Geet (Movie: Jab We Met)

Geet is an extremely happy person. She states that she loves herself; that she is her "favourite". She is not shy of expressing herself, acknowledges her own emotions and fights for them, without a care in the world. She gives back to anyone or anything that stands in her way. Usually, people with low self worth are drawn to (toxic) relationships that treats them as unworthy. Geet on the other hand has extreme self worth and self-love. But then why does a person who loves and appreciates herself as much as Geet, is ready to spend her energy and time on a person who doesn't see her worth. Why indeed, does she want pursue Anshuman who doesn't want her. If we've learned anything from psychology, spirituality or even basic physics, it is that, balance is the way of life. Balance is what keeps us going. Extreme quantity of anything, no matter how powerful or beautiful it might be, is harmful. Self love is great. In fact, it heals various emotional scars. But what happens when it is extreme. Geet's self is so high, that she is never slightly critical of her actions or her thoughts. It is so high, that she compensates the emotional insecurity and lack of love in her relationship with Anshuman with her self love. While self love is the most important emotion, so is self criticism. With the lack of self criticism, there is a high chance of the person creating their own version of reality. So when the bubble bursts, the reality almost cripples Geet. For Geet, to be loved the way she loves herself, is her basic need. It takes a lot of trust on the other person, to demand that kind of love. Wouldn't it be just easier, to depend on your ownself. Who can love Geet better than her own self. So she derives all the love she needs, to get going in this relationship. It is only when she finds her balance, she realises what she truly wants. She realises that Aditya is someone she can love and she doesn't have the burden herself to compensate the love for both of them. She can just be her ownself and find her balance. By only finding that balance is she truly herself. #geet #jabwemet #imtazali #kareenakapoor #selflove #selfworth #balanceiseverything #toxicrelationships

Every well written character has their own psyche. The character behaves in a particular way because of that. Understanding these well written characters from a psychological perspective is what gives us high. So we do this.

This space is for anybody who love cinema and understand that cinema is not just for entertainment but a path to navigate through various alternate realities and emotions. This space is for those of us to whom characters speak and teach life lessons. This space is also for them who spend several hours discussing the nuances of a character while people around you are busy buying popcorn.
